Welcome to Year 3
The Year 3 teacher is Mr Ward and the teaching assistants are Mr Mather, Mr Constantine and Miss Caldwell. We have lots of exciting plans for this final Summer Term!
Our Theme this half term is Romans and we will be covering History, Geography and Art! We will be learning about how the Romans built their empire and how they introduced Britain to new ideas and technologies.
Each week the children will take home times table homework and spellings. Our times table focus in Year 3 is out 3, 4 and 8 times tables. Scroll down to find our tables songs to practice!
We have PE on a Tuesday. Children will need their full PE kit as they have PE lessons indoors and outdoors for different activities.

We have been finding creative ways of making numbers using PE whilst the sun is out!
In Year 3 we have created our own Roman shields!
We have been using maps on the iPads to locate physical and human geography in the lake district in Year 3.
We have been researching facts about Romans in preparation for our non-chronological reports at the end of the week.

Interview with Iron Man
Today in year 3 we have been using iMovie to create our own TV show to interview the Iron Man!
In year 3 we have been designing front covers for our story writing.
Year 3 have been reading a play script in their guided reading sessions.
We have been assessing each others work in Year 3 today!
Safer Internet Day
For Safer Internet Day, the children had to create a picture that was appropriate to be put online and one that would be inappropriate.
We have been learning how to extend sentences using subordinate conjunctions today in year 3.
Trip to the Beatles Museum
In year 3 we have been listening to the Beatles and how music changes with time.
Year 3 have been using the iPads to learn about inverted commas!
This week a child from year 3 has shown great enthusiasm with our current work in English. She has wrote sentences using similes and metaphors, excellent effort, lets keep it going!
Today in year 3 we have been observing unique features of different rocks as rock detectives.
In PE, year 3 have been doing sequences in gymnastics including forward rolls, balancing and travelling.
Year 3 Enterprise Pitch
In Year 3 we have been designing Christmas decorations for our enterprise!
Hour of Code
In Year 3 we have been looking at the Minecraft Hour of Code. We learnt about how specific an algorithm needs to be for it to work.
Drink Tasting in Science!
Today in science we have been trying to identify a drink from its look and taste! We have also been ordering them from the least healthy to the most healthy.
In year 3 we have been drawing bananas using chocolate, oil pastels and felt tips!
In year 3 we have been using water colours to paint healthy food!
In year 3 we have been using persuasive vocabulary to become salespeople!
In year 3 we have been learning about right angle turns by playing Simon Says!
Our new theme in Year 3 is Healthy Humans and as part of this we are trying a new food every week! Last week was mango and everyone loved it!
World War 2 - PE
We took part in a World War 2 style PE lesson today in year 3!
In year 3 we have finished our biography topic in which we wrote biographies on Steven Gerrard.
Trip to the Beacon
